A little while ago i would have said it was the best soap but it has gone down hill at the minute. I do though like the comedy storyline at the moment between Val and Steph. I am annoyed though because it seems to keep having an hour episode on Tuesday's which crosses over with Eastenders! :-x

I've watched Emmerdale for many years now.
And always said it's a better soap than Eastenders.
Then all of a sudden people have started to say "oooh that's good"
Mentioning no names Louise!
Storylines have been good for a number of years, but everyone's been
in support of Corrie and 'Enders.

Emmerdale has to be one of my favourite soaps but it gets a bit annoying when it focuses to much on the Kings, sometimes the whole episode seems to be just them.

Emmerdale inferno
Emmerdale is set to seal its reputation as the disaster capital of the universe. The village has already suffered a devastating plane crash and killer storm - not to mention last year's explosion, which saw the Kings' show home explode with a satisfying whoomph before collapsing into its component parts of Styrofoam and sticky tape. Now, those sadistic TV chiefs are planning their most explosive stunt ever for the soap's 35th birthday.

The commemorative episode – to be screened in October – sees the village in the grip of a massive fire. Producers are remaining tight-lipped about how many locals will be killed or injured, but the fall-out will be felt for weeks to come. There's a strong chance Kelly Windsor (pictured here) could be caught up in the drama, given that the actress who plays her – golden girl Adele Silva – is leaving the show at the same time.

The inferno will be started deliberately, but the identity of the guilty person is a closely guarded secret. However, the Daily Star has revealed the action will centre around one of the show's iconic families – and they will see a long-buried secret come tumbling out into the open. Ooh, we can hardly stand the suspense!

Emmerdale actress Linda Thorson is to bow out of the ITV soap later this year after 17 months with the show.

The 60-year-old - who plays scheming Rosemary King in the Yorkshire-based soap - will leave the Dales at the culmination of her current storyline which sees her character attempting to make daughter-in-law Perdy Hyde-Sinclair (Georgia Slowe) believe she's mentally unstable in a bid to force her out of her son Grayson's (Christopher Villiers) life.

Speaking of the departure, Series Producer Kathleen Beedles said: “The character of Rosemary has been integral to storylines over the past year but will be leaving the village next month as the storyline draws to a natural conclusion.”

Linda finishes filming this week and her final scenes are due to be broadcast at the end of September.

Former Page 3 model Linda Lusardi has quit Emmerdale – after only seven months in her role.

The 49-year-old – who has played Carrie Nicholls in the ITV soap since February – has taken the decision to pursue other acting roles, despite producers extending her on-screen family by giving her a daughter, Lexi Nicholls (Sally Oliver).

Speaking to The Sun, Linda said: "I have had a wonderful time at Emmerdale. I would like to thank the Producers for the wonderful opportunity they gave me.

"I would also like to thank the cast for making me very welcome and whose hard work makes the show such a success. I have made many friends during my time there, but I have decided to leave the show at the end of the year.

She went on: "I became an actress to play different and varied roles, and I have thoroughly enjoyed playing Carrie Nicholls for the last year. I am looking forward to working on new projects in 2008."

A source close to the actress commented: "It's not a row about money. She thinks it is time to move on."

Series producer Kathleen Beedles added: "We have got some fantastic storylines coming up involving Carrie in the coming months and wish Linda all the very best for the future."

Linda to leave Emmerdale

Linda Lusardi is set to leave her role as Carrie Nicholls in a hugely dramatic storyline in the New Year, itv.com can confirm.

Linda joined the show in February following the death of Tom King and has been heavily involved in storylines with the King brothers.

“I have had a wonderful time at Emmerdale," Linda said. "I would like to thank the producers for the wonderful opportunity they gave me. I would also like to thank the cast for making me very welcome and whose hard work makes the show such a success.

"I have made many friends during my time there, but I have decided to leave the show at the end of the year. I became an actress to play different and varied roles, and I have thoroughly enjoyed playing Carrie Nicholls for the last year. I am looking forward to working on new projects in 2008.”

Kathleen Beedles, series producer, told itv.com: ‘We have got some fantastic storylines coming up involving Carrie in the coming months and wish Linda all the very best for the future.”

Emmerdale has confirmed that Kelsey-Beth Crossley, who plays Scarlett, and Sally Oliver, who plays Lexi, will remain in the show.

Meet Emmerdale’s new cop

There’s a sexy young cop in the shape of Ross Kirk joining Emmerdale soon.

Watch Ross introduce himself by clicking on the ‘Play’ button on the image above

Ross is the cousin of village vet Paddy and arrives after being transferred to Hotten police station.

With an eye for the ladies, Ross’ charm and self-assurance initially rub fellow officer Donna Windsor-Dingle up the wrong way.

However, with her marriage to hapless Marlon Dingle on the rocks, Ross’ charm soon brings her round and their growing bond could lead to graver problems for Marlon.

Ross is played by 25-year-old Samuel Anderson, who trained at the Wandsworth Academy of Live & Recorded Arts and has appeared on TV in shows such as Doctors.

“My mum’s a big soap fan and growing up Emmerdale was always on in our house,” Samuel said. “It’s great to be joining such a successful show and I’m looking forward to Ross stirring things up for the locals.”

Series producer Kathleen Beedles added: “Samuel is a fantastic addition to the cast. There’s a great chemistry between Ross and Donna and viewers can expect fireworks in the near future.”

Samuel’s first appearance on screen will be Wednesday, 10th October.

Ben Freeman has been told that his Emmerdale contract will not be renewed.

The actor, who played mechanic Scott Windsor, has been on a leave of absence from the soap since being charged with rape in Barbados in December last year.

An ITV spokesman told the News of the World: "We cannot be sure of Ben's availability for work, so we cannot renew his contract. It is due to the uncertainty of the process of law and the lead times in writing a character in and out of a soap."

Freeman said: "I am focusing on the legal proceedings in Barbados and look forward to speaking to ITV once this situation is behind me."

A TV source added: "This was the bad news Ben desperately didn't want."
