I borrowed 3 of Torey Hayden's books from a friend and I have to say I couldn't get on with them at all
Not because of the content (which was harrowing) but just her style of writing, it just seemed to take ages for her to get to the actual story and I'm afraid I just skimmed some of the pages

I'm glad it's not just me then
I've actually resisted reading these books since 2005 when an ex-colleague did nothing but rave about them and, quite frankly, she put me off wanting to read them
