I think it's very sad but even going back 50 years people would not leave that sort of money in an open bag. | ||

My thoughts exactly Julie and I don't think his version of events tallied with the CCTV either

Why would you leave money like that iin a bag anyway, why not write a cheque or if you dont have a cheque book get the bank to write one for you.
Somehow i dont think thats as innocent as its all being made out to be

Well in defense of cash - when we buy a "new to us car" we always save in the bank then draw out cash, we always did the same when buying caravans etc as no one will hand over goods if you given them a cheque so we have often had upwards of £7000 in our sweaty palms but and it's a big but we go straight to the bank and straight back never letting go of the bag we are carrying for even a second. So I can see why they drew it out but what happened after seems odd.
I also thought it strange the wife going on about violent crime when they people supposed to have taken it showed no sign of violence at all. BTW how did the 3 of them know he had the money anyway - they were in the cafe first so didn't follow him from the bank presumably

That's what puzzled me Julie because he says that he 'felt ill' and I got the impression he had fallen over or had to sit down etc and when he came round he noticed the bag was open. He asked someone to check there was an envelope in the bag and when told no he said someone had taken it. He then goes on to say that another person in the restaurant told him he presumed that the man who had taken the envelope was actually with him because he followed him in!! However, the CCTV quite clearly shows that the 3 people responsible were already in the restaurant and watched him come in and put the bag down! |
