Couple quizzed over hanged girl
| Quote: | The mother and stepfather of a girl found hanged in her bedroom have been arrested in connection with her death.
Simon and Susan Moody are being quizzed over eight-year-old Charlotte Avenall's death at their home last month.
Mr Moody, 32, and his 24-year-old wife were interviewed under caution immediately after the body was found at their home in Mansfield, Notts.
Charlotte, who had severe learning disabilities, was discovered hanged in her bedroom on 12 September.
Care review
A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Police said: "A 32-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were arrested in connection with the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of eight-year-old Charlotte Avenall, from Mansfield.
"They are currently being questioned by police."
Following the death at the property in Moor Street, Nottinghamshire County Council's social services department said it would be reviewing the care and support it offered Charlotte and her family.
She was known to social services from birth and attended Birklands Primary School in nearby Warsop.
A post-mortem examination carried out at Leicester Royal Infirmary confirmed the cause of Charlotte's death as hanging. |
