Doctor Who assistant is unveiled | Quote: | Little-known actress Karen Gillan has been unveiled as the next assistant in Doctor Who.
The 21-year-old will star alongside new Time Lord Matt Smith in the new series, to be broadcast next year.
Gillan has already appeared in the drama, having played a Soothsayer in The Fires Of Pompeii in the last run.
"I am absolutely over the moon at being chosen to play the Doctor's new companion. - I just can't wait to get started," she said. |

I know a lot of people are very wary about the new Doctor (Matt Smith) and I'm sure they'll be the same with the new assistant but I can't wait for it all to start - I'll watch first and then make my judgement

i think the new companion might do really well.

I have never seen her act but she is a very pretty girl - hope this doesn't mean a big romance with the doctor, I remember him originally as a grandfather and it all seems a bit wrong that he has romantic interludes with young girls
