Fern leaves This morning | Quote: | Fern Britton has denied she quit This Morning because of a rift with co-presenter Philip Scofield.
The 51-year-old presenter, who was on the show for ten years, said she will miss the team, but is looking forward to new projects and spending time with her family.
A number of reports suggested that Britton was quitting the show because she was unhappy at being paid less and having a lower profile than Schofield.
But she dismissed rumours surrounding her departure, saying: "I realise people like to speculate, rather hurtfully, but the reason is ten years is a long time on the show and I'm ready for a change.
"I want to slow down a little and enjoy life a bit.
"My immediate plan is to build a vegetable plot in the autumn and become a This Morning viewer cheering on whoever the lucky person is who will work with Phillip, because he is, after all, simply the best. So that's the end of that."
Co-presenter Phillip Schofield said he wished the mother-of-four well for the future and looked forward to starting the new series in the autumn.
"I'm obviously very sad that, after ten triumphant years on This Morning, Fern has decided to leave the sofa," he said on his website.
"I've been lucky enough to work with her for six of those years and can honestly say that they have been amongst the best of my career.
"We have cried together over stories and we have laughed ourselves breathless too. From day one we just 'clicked' and I'm really proud of what we have achieved together on the show."
Britton will present her last show on July 16, her birthday.

I always thought they got on, they are always laughing, mind you she was the same with John Leslie........
I like Fern just wish she'd cover up her droopy boobs, I know she has lost lost of weight, but her low cut tops put me of my elevenses

The 29-year-old TV host has become a household name since joining BBC One's The One Show in 2007.
Bleakley, who fronts the programme with Adrian Chiles, could now be lured to ITV if the broadcaster agrees to top her current £100,000 salary.
An insider told The Mirror: "She can think on her feet and works well with Chiles, even though he's a bit of a handful and she admitted to not liking him at first. She's a great foil for an older male co-host because she's pretty but smart, too.
"Christine also has warmth which makes other women like her - which is very important for a show like This Morning."
Britton announced that she was quitting This Morning last month. She will present her final show on July 17.
