Force wind farm sites: Prescott
Councils should be forced to earmark sites for new wind farms as part of a strategy to override local residents' objections to the developments, John Prescott is due to say.
The former Deputy Prime Minister is due to complain that far too many wind turbine planning applications are blocked and urge ministers to take on the Nimbys ("Not in my back yard").
"It is absolutely scandalous that three-quarters of all planning applications for onshore wind turbines are turned down," Mr Prescott will tell the British Wind Energy Association's annual conference in Liverpool.

I live on top of a hill if it helped they could build them on our roofs - wouldn't bother me a jot. Although I am thinking no amount of wind farms can really solve our problems.

It wouldn't bother me either - I've been near wind farms and they're not half as noisy as people make them out to be.
In fact we have a large plot of land on a hill just up the road from us (it used to be my old secondary school until it was demolished) and that would make an ideal situation.
