A man armed with a hammer is believed to be responsible for two attacks in north Manchester, one of which left a woman with a broken arm and hand.
She was hit on the back of the head in the first assault on Old Market Street, Blackley, on Thursday night, and struck again after falling to the floor.
About 30 minutes later, a man carrying a lump hammer and an axe tried to rob two men 300m away on Slack Road.
He wrestled one of them to the ground, but was fought off by the other man.
Describing the first attack, police said the woman had been walking along the road at about 2315 BST when two men, one carrying an axe and the other a hammer, began talking to her. |
