There is growing controversy in Brazil over the arrest of an Italian tourist held after kissing his eight-year-old daughter in public.

I already have done so on this very day and will almost certainly do so again
before the day is over. Let those who will, report me. I have never, and
will never worry what other people say, I do what I think is appropriate
and will continue to do so.

Having said that, child abuse is one of the most heinous of crimes and I
cannot criticize anyone who reports what they think is abuse.

I can understand why they reported it but my 12 year old still kisses me on the lips when hes going out or going to bed so i dont see why its such a big issue

What ever happened to asking a person what was happening before arresting them ? Surely simple questions to the girl would have put this right before anyone else was involved ?

Tasha is not our real daughter but she has always been very kissy huggy with both of us (starved of love in her own home) and still greets Steven when he picks her up from the station with a kiss on the lips, it's spontaneous and as such hard to stop. How sad people could be judging it inappropriate.

Unfortunately too many people see something and get the wrong idea because of all the bad things happening in the world today. As you say, asking the girl what was happening would have saved all of this trouble for the poor family
