I love this book Julie
One book I would recommend is The Woman in Black by Susan Hill - a brilliant ghost story and an ending that you really do not expect

OOO still have Goodnight Mr Tom that I recorded on a video. Wonderful book. Main character was played by.....erm....he was married to Sheila Hancock!
One of the best books I've read is The Island by Victoria Hislop.
Another, rather harrowing one though, is Surviving the Killing Fields: Cambodian Odyssey by Haing S. Ngor and Roger Warner. It's now been updated since Hain Ngor was killed/murdered in America.
Also.. First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers by Loung Ung and the follow up ... After They Killed Our Father: A Refugee from the Killing Fields Reunites with the Sister She Left Behind by Loung Ung - one chapter of her live where she escaped to America aged about 10...and one chapter by her sister who was left behind and still lives in Cambodia with her family.
On a lighter note .....

No worries Pam, I actually thought I was gonna have to Google Morse or something then it suddenly came to me. It was the same with Morse's Christian name, thought I was gonna have to google that too, lol. Then for some reason it came to me. I'll probably have forgotten it by the time Christmas gets here, lol

OOO no I haven't! I didn't know until very recently that she is the wife of Ian Hislop... 'Have I Got News For You'.
I started reading East of the Sun by Julia Gregson when we were on holiday - after I'd read a really good book that someone from another forum posted to me..Temples and Tuk Tuks by Lydia Laube - Australian girl on her lone travels around Cambodia.

I have also recently finished "A Thousand Splendid Suns"
I am still a little unsure as to whether it is a good recommend, very emotional towards the end, but took ages to get into it.
Anyone else read this one yet?
