Reward offer over mystery attackThis is terrible 
Something has got to be done - there are far too many mindless acts of violence happening these days 
A £6,000 reward has been offered for information about an attack which left a 25-year-old man with brain damage.
Father-of-one Stephen Wilson was found injured and unconscious in an alleyway close to Pelham Street in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, on 28 April.
Scottish-born Mr Wilson remains in a serious condition in hospital and despite police inquiries no motive has been found or arrests made.
Charity Crimestoppers has put forward the money to encourage any witnesses.
Det Insp Caroline Racher, who is leading the investigation, said: "Stephen was left with horrendous injuries and very close to death in that alleyway.
"It's unclear at this stage if he is ever going to be able to walk, talk or feed himself again.
"His family is going through hell and not knowing who did this only adds to that pain."
