Richard and Judy have pledged to save their chat show - just four months after announcing they were quitting.
The Channel 4 hosts are in secret talks with rival stations over a £4million deal to keep the popular programme alive.
A source at makers Cactus Television said of the U-turn: "We are talking to various broadcasters."
Viewers had been preparing for the end of an era after Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan suddenly announced they would be quitting their chat show at the end of this year.
But TV's golden couple have done a U-turn and are now hawking the popular Channel 4 programme around rival stations in an effort to stop it being consigned to broadcasting history.
The pair are in secret talks with TV chiefs about keeping the chat format and juggling it with other spin-off projects and "new challenges". Sources said it is "highly likely" a deal will be struck.
They will be hoping for a £4million contract over two years - to double the £2million Channel 4 offered them when they joined in 2001.
