Torchwood - Children of EarthWow! This has been excellent so far
I can honestly say I was on the edge of my seat on Monday - how dare they do that to Captain Jack
Am ready and waiting for his explanation tonight though as to why he did what he did in 1965

Oh my! I'm emotionally worn out now after watching this all week
There was some very uncomfortable viewing in the final episode but I still think it was an excellent series
I haven't been so affected by a TV drama for a long time and certain things are still going round in my head and I'm asking why they happened
I would love to see a S4 of TW but after last night who knows

Watched all the episodes yesterday (started and couldn't stop 2am before we knew it ! ) all I can say is WOW ! Not seen a drama quite like it for a long time - left many many questions whirling round in my head - quite disturbing really.
Ianto
And I thought Jacks Grandson might just have his ability so I kept thinking get up get up
Some of the thoughts I was left with have made me think we need to get the power back from the Government and Councils - they should serve us not tell us what to do
And I would not want to live in a world knowing we had sacrificed any number of people children or adults for our own safety !

Some people have been VERY upset with what has happened in COE, so much so that they have been leaving nasty, vitriolic messages on one of the writer's blogs - here's his reply to them all

Why on earth would people be so horrible the writing of this was the best I have seen in years he took us to a place in our minds where we had to confront some very unsavory things about ourselves - personally I would like to see more challenging drama not less. Yes it wasn't typical TW or DW but I don't think that matters as it was actually better than either of them. It wasn't suitable for children IMO but on a personal level I have only seen a few TW's that I would be very comfortable showing to children but TW was always set up to be an adult's programme.
I was amazed how many people wanted DW, Sarah Jane and Mr Smith to be involved and when I said if SJ and Mr S were in it they could not have made such a thoughtful disturbing piece people actually said that would be fine - they seem to want something much fluffier than we were watching.
I'm not saying I am comfortable with what it has left me thinking and feeling but I think that is good - to be challenged is good, perhaps if we were challenged more often we would have a better society ?

I'm amazed at what some people are saying on the internet Julie
I'm on a fan-listing for John Barrowman and some of his so-called fans are actually blaming him for what happened in COE, some have gone as far to say that they want nothing more to do with him because of what Captain Jack did
I understand people are also being encouraged to either boycott or start a protest at the next Comic-Con in San Diego (Russell T Davies, Gareth David-Lloyd and JB will be there) in an attempt to get Ianto brought back
It's just nonsense and way OTT as far as I'm concerned! Yes, I can understand people being upset about one of their favourite characters being killed off and also not liking what Captain Jack did but, at the end of the day (I hate that phrase lol), it's a TV drama and not real life
I also agree with you Julie, right from the start TW has been advertised as being an adult programme so bringing DW, SJ etc into it would have been so wrong

I thought the Captain Jack character was brilliantly played (yes I'm a fan but I don't think it's why I think that) the decisions and flash backs really fleshed out the character to make him a very complex being and again made me think (which is good) about what he could have done differently and what if I was in his shoes I would have done. Can't people deal with having to think for themselves any more ?
I would love to see Ianto back but I have thought that about a lot of characters in a lot of series/films over the years and you have to accept and move on IMO (could even have been his idea - who knows ?).
I wonder if people complaining have had real life experiences - anyone who has had would know there are difficult decisions to be made and everything is not always black and white and comes in shades of gray too. Perhaps they need to switch off their TV sets and get out and live for a while they sound far too dependent on a TV series and not grown up enough to watch a challenging drama.
