Woman sleeps in car over clamping£125 for being 10 mins late - absolutely disgusting!
| Quote: | A Derby woman slept in her car for two nights in protest at it being clamped in a city car park.
Simone Avila said she had slept in the Crompton Street car park on Saturday and Sunday night as she could not afford a £125 fine to remove the clamp.
City councillor Chris Williamson said her penalty for running 10 minutes over the ticket was too harsh and called for tougher regulations against clamping.
But the clamping company said it had acted entirely within the law.
Ms Avila, who was later joined by her husband in the protest, said she stayed there to send a signal to the clampers and also because she could not afford the fine.
She said: "It was pitch black and I was alone, cold and scared and at one point I was in tears but he (the clamper) didn't care. |

I got a £25 fine once for being 15 minutes late back to a car park in Woking, even though I was trapped in the car park lift with witnesses to the fact I was there the council employee was totally not caring, complaining higher didn't help either in the end I paid up but it always left a bitter taste in my mouth that it would not have mattered what the problem was all they cared about was the money they were generating.
