This week Eoghan Quigg has been slated for a debut album full of lacklustre cover versions.

But what is the worst ever cover version??

Could it be:

Atomic Kitten, The tide is high
Suggs, I'm only sleeping
Britney Spears, I love Rock n Roll
Westlife, Uptown Girl
Candy Flip, Strawberry Fields Forever
Madonna, American Pie
Ronan Keating , Fairy Tale of New York
UB40, Red Red WIne
Simple Minds, Sign O The Times
Paul Young, Love Will Tear Us Apart

What do you think is the worst ever cover version?[/quote]

Aww Kellie

One of the worst cover versions for me was Mad World by Gary Jules - talk about turning it into the most depressing song ever

Much preferred the original by Tears for Fears

Not a cover version really but one that is driving me mad at the moment ! Someone is singing an old Carpenters song - close to you on a TV advert - absolutely murders the song !

2 of my favourite singers got together and killed a song a couple of years ago - Celine Dion and Anastasia singing you shook me all night long - it was actually quite scary

Hillary Duff (I think that's her name) tried to sing My generation.

Madonna has already been mentioned and is up there with the worst too.

with most songs that are cover versions i prefer the cover as the original is too old fashioned for my liking, however there are a couple i hate but the worst has to be rik wallers version of i will always love you

The Carpenters one sounds like Chris Martin to me, not sure if it's him though

Have to say that I started to think about this and after reading some reminders above...it has to be

Mad World by Gary Jules
Uptown Girl - Westlife

Can't better that and thank you for those who reminded me about these

Trouble was the original was too good to better - personally if I had never heard the original up town girl I would have loved the west life one, who ever made the choice to record that did the boys a disservice
