Young breakdancer George Sampson was voted as the winner of ITV1's Britain's Got Talent last night.

The 14-year-old impressed the public with his 'Singing In The Rain' routine, which had won him a place in the final earlier in the week.

Sampson will now perform in front of Prince Charles at the Royal Variety Show. He will also receive a cash prize of £100,000.

After the result was announced, George said: "I'm speechless - wow. Just thanks so much. You have changed my life."

George had previously auditioned for the first series of the talent show, but did not make it to the semi-final stage. Returning for a second attempt this year, he told the judges he was "bigger and better".

Simon Cowell told the teen last night: "You are the dancing version of Rocky, young man. You battled your way to the top. Congratulations."

Dance duo Signature were the runners-up in the competition, while 13-year-old opera singer Andrew Johnston finished in third place.

Winner George had previously vowed to pay off his mother's mortgage with the prize money.

I was  bit let down by the final. I really thought 12 year old Faryl and the 4 violinists would be in the top 3. The judges say they are looking for original acts but it seems the public isnt. The violinists were the most original and talented. Signature were funny yes, but what else can they do? This breakdancing craze is fine to watch..for 3 minutes then its all so samey. Is it really talent? I should think most kids could do it if they practiced enough. Just my honest opinion.

George Sampson has revealed that he is suffering from a rare spine condition.

The Britain's Got Talent winner told The Sun that he has Scheuermann’s disease, a curvature of the spine that left him blind in one eye last year.

The 14-year-old breakdancer said: "The eye was all inflamed. The spinal nerves were trapped and it affected my optic nerves.

"I lost all my coordination and it was really hard to dance, as I didn’t have my balance. I kept bumping into everything.

"'There were a few times when I panicked that my eyesight wouldn't come back."

Despite the condition, which doctors say could leave him crippled if he carries on with his dynamic dance routines, George admitted that "there's no way I'd ever give up dancing. Nothing would stop me."

Britain's Got Talent winner George Sampson is to have his life story made into a film, reports claim.

The street dancer, who won last Saturday's grand final despite suffering a spine condition, has attracted the interest of movie bosses.

Producers are apparently struck by the similarities between the 14-year-old's life and 2000 movie Billy Elliot, which revolves around a young ballet dancer who overcomes prejudice to achieve his dream.

A source told The Sun: "They reckon George’s story could be a perfect follow-up to Billy."
