Linda Lusardi has said that she would like to return to Emmerdale.

The former Page 3 girl, who played Carrie Nichols, is keen to have another stint in the Yorkshire-based soap.

"Linda was great on the show and a lot of viewers miss her," a source told The Sun. "She’s indicated that she’d like to come back for a bit."

Lusardi first appeared on the soap in 2007. Her character left the show in February to pursue a former lover who lived in Canada.

Emmerdale actress Roxanne Pallett has quit the Yorkshire-based soap after three years.

The 25-year-old, who portrays domestic violence victim Jo Sugden, intended to leave the show last year, but producers convinced her to stay for another 12 months.

Her current storyline has seen Jo suffer at the hands of husband Andy Sugden (Kelvin Fletcher) and over the next few months, his torment intensifies until a neighbour intervenes.

A source told The Sun: "Roxanne wanted to leave last year but the producers put her at the centre of this big storyline, which is only going to get more harrowing.

"Now she has agreed her leaving terms and will go in a huge exit in December."

Series producer Anita Turner added: "Roxanne has given a fantastic performance and it will be an eventful six months for Jo."

Now, Pallett is determined to crack the West End as she intends to move to London in a bid for theatre fame.

Actor Clive Hornby, who played farmer Jack Sugden in ITV1 rural soap Emmerdale, died last night at the age of 63, a spokeswoman for the show said today.

Hornby, who also appeared in army sitcom Get Some In, Minder and Gerry Anderson's Space 1999, was the longest-serving cast member in the West Yorkshire-based soap's history, appearing for 28 years.

He had not been seen on screen since February because of ill health.

Hornby first appeared in the soap, then known as Emmerdale Farm, in February 1980, when he was offered a three-month contract to play farmer Jack Sugden, a character who returned to the village after previously being played by Andrew Burt.

After the character become a key part of the soap, his contract was extended and the farmer went on to get married three times and father five children.

Hornby, who was born and grew up in Liverpool, started out as an accounts clerk before enjoying success as a drummer with 1960s pop group the Dennisons.

The band played on the same bill as the Beatles at Liverpool's famous Cavern Club, but later split when the members decided to pursue other projects.

Hornby turned his hand to acting, attending the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art before going into repertory theatre.

Anita Turner, Emmerdale series producer, paid tribute to him.

"This is a devastating loss and we are all deeply saddened," she said. "Clive will be greatly missed by everyone who has worked with him on Emmerdale during the past 28 years.

"He was a hugely popular and well-respected member of the cast and a terrific actor. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time."

Sam finds out!:

Poor Sam Dingle takes vicious beating from Andy Sugden this week – and discovers that the hateful hubby’s been using his close friend Jo as a punch bag. As Sam learns the horrifying extent of Jo’s torment, actor James Hooton explains why the hapless chap’s caught in the crossfire…

“Jo doesn’t turn up for work at the pub and Sam goes to see her – and finds her covered in bruises,” sighs James. “The penny finally drops that Andy’s been beating her and he’s horrified. He asks her why she loves someone who would hurt her but she won’t listen.”

Emmerdale star Matt Healy has announced that he is quitting the soap.

Show chiefs have confirmed that they have a dramatic exit plot lined up for the actor, who has played businessman Matthew King for five years. His final scenes are expected to air in December.

Healy told the Daily Star: "After five years of wearing Matthew's suits every morning and having to shave every day, I feel ready to pull on some bermuda shorts and grow a goatee! But I've had a brilliant time at Emmerdale and I'm excited about what lies ahead."

Emmerdale's series producer Anita Turner added: "Matthew King will leave Emmerdale in an explosive storyline. We wish Matt all the very best."

Turner also promised that Healy's departure will not affect his on-screen brothers Jimmy (Nick Miles) and Carl (Tom Lister), who will remain in the Dales.

Emmerdale set to recruit new farmer
Fri 08 Aug 10:59 AM. By Press Association

Soap bosses at ITV1 drama Emmerdale have put out feelers for a new addition to the cast - a farmer.
Ever since the sad death of Clive Hornby - aka Jack Sugden - the only farmer left standing is Andy Butler (Kelvin Fletcher), and the powers-that-be are in no doubt about who they're looking for.

The newcomer, who will be called John Naylor, has been described as a "forty-something Casanova who will be an instant hit with the local ladies".

A source told Digital Spy: "We want to create a new farming dynasty. Families and farming are the cornerstone of Emmerdale and it's important we don't forget that.

"We want to take the show back to its farming roots, while keeping it sexy and exciting."

They added: "We are in the final few days of casting and hope to announce our new man very shortly. The actor who is confirmed in the role will join the cast in late September and begin filming then."

The cast of Emmerdale are reportedly becoming displeased with the show's 'tacky' and 'unsuitable' storylines.

One scene which recently caused controversy among the cast and crew during filming saw Douglas Potts (Duncan Preston) itching his groin in the village shop after catching a sexually transmitted infection.

An Emmerdale source told The Mirror: "This has to be the tackiest soap story of all time.

"Duncan was horrified. His character has casual sex, ends up getting crabs and is seen scratching himself in the corner shop. How can this possibly be suitable for a 7pm audience? Duncan is a top actor and it is terrible that he has had to go through this crackpot charade."

They continued: "Some people are so unhappy they are seriously thinking of throwing in the towel. It is not the happy place it used to be. They have got rid of good people.

"Anita doesn't seem to know what she wants. At first it was a return to family values, whatever they are. I wouldn't like to try to explain to children why Douglas is fiddling about with his nether regions."

A spokeswoman for the Yorkshire-based soap, however, said: "It raises awareness of what can be an embarrassing infection and stresses the importance of seeking medical advice

I can imagine why they are feeling a bit weird about it, i don't think there would have been so much controversy if it was a younger actor.
